from the above description, I did not get a clear idea on exactly what problems you want to simulate -- it sounds like 
a) you want to name *nodes* (instead of data) by their locations?
b) if you do so, then the names of the nodes changes when they move?

are you looking into mobility support?  This is just a guess.
If I guessed right: I would suggest that you first take a look at
