Yes, you can see if the pSync protocol we have is suitable for your pub-sub application.  The design and implementation is described in M. Zhang, V. Lehman, L. And they want to include the NDN solution as well since they are interested in the new Internet architecture. What I have worked previously with Ilya is mainly communication library (producer/consumer APIs), so it is not directly mapped.

  I was wondering if there is any representative pub/sub protocol that can participate in this work.

I believe Memphis has a pub-sub implementation.
Not sure what you meant by "widely accepted" -- I dont recall new pub-sub apps being developed after Memphis did their work last year (if I remembered right)
