[ndnSIM] HELP Required: LEO satellite Constellations in NDNSim

You are welcome! I do not have the example code, since I use STK GUI to set the LEO satellite network trace file, which only is a text file that you can define the time granunarity (steps). The code to translate the trace file to control the inter-satellite and satellite-ground link features are coded by my master students in java language.

'IMO, do remember to include these ground nodes when you simulating the topology.' means if you want to simulate the link between UAV and satellites, you need to include the UAVs. Besides, I remember STK can only simulate nodes above certain heights (not sure?)

Hi Junya,

I am very glad that you have replied in a detailed manner.

I will proceed following your suggestion. Do you have any example code on dynamically changing the node position according to the trace file? As per my understanding, I also need to mention the height of nodes and implement the channel model so that it can calculate the propagation delay accordingly.

'IMO, do remember to include these ground nodes when you simulating the topology.' --- I am not very sure what you mean. could you please elaborate a little?

Best,

Hi Sangita,

We may have the same focus. Typically, you can utilize STK software to generate the trace file with description of the dynamic topology change events for your simulation. Then, you can write a program in ndnsim to dynamic change the LEO satellite network topology according to the aforementioned trace file. IMO, do remember to include these ground nodes when you simulating the topology.

We also developed a leo network emulation systems several years ago.

主题: [ndnSIM] HELP Required: LEO satellite Constellations in NDNSim

Hi Members,
I want to simulate an LEO constellation and UAV network in DNS. I have found this paper entitled 'Liang, Teng, et al. "NDN in large LEO satellite constellations: a case of consumer mobility support." Proceedings of the 8th ACM Conference on Information-Centric Networking. 2021 provides a module to simulate LEO constellations. They developed an external program to generate a series of topology snapshots consisting of the positions of both satellites and ground users.

Could anyone help me with how to do this?
I would also like to know how to implement UAV in NDNSim.

Best,
 Sangita
