[ndnSIM] ndnSIM ad hoc routing protocol question

Hi everyone,
We just started using ndnSIM to do some research. Now we are wondering how
ndnSIM manage to use ad hoc routing protocols like DSR and AODV to forward
the packets?
I think, due to the nature of the NDN, it can not utilize traditional ad
hoc routing protocols without any modifications, but where exactly do I
modify it to forward data the way I want it to be? So what I'm asking
really is, how to define the routing protocols in ndnSIM myself?
