Hey everyone,

I've been working on a guide to help new contributors for a while now. I've had a draft on gerrit and we've done some work on it there, but 
that doesn't get a lot of visibility, so I'm also sending it here. I've attached the markdown file, but if you want to see the images you

I'd appreciate a few more sets of eyes on this since it's pretty far-reaching.
