[Nfd-dev] Error installing nfd @0.3.0_0 on Mac OSX 10.9.5

I'm trying to do a completely clean install of NFD using ports. 
The ndn-cxx install completed successfully. The NFD install 
completes but finishes with the following error

To start NFD and ensure it is started when system boots:

    nfd-start

To stop NFD and disable auto-start when system boots:

    nfd-stop

NFD log files are located in /opt/local/var/log/ndn/

Configuration file is in /opt/local/var/etc/ndn/

Error: org.macports.activate for port nfd returned: command execution
failed
