That port is out of date.
You can try to update the port. If you try to port you won't see the protobuf error:
NLSR no longer uses NSync which used protobuf.
NLSR now has dependency on ChronoSync.

Subject: [ndnSIM] ndnSIM-NLSR: No package 'protobuf' found
I am trying use NLSR with ndnSIM and for that I tried to install ndnSIM-NLSR from the following link,
When trying to configure (using ./waf configure --enable-examples --enable-nlsr), I encounter the following error:
Checking for 'protobuf'
['/usr/bin/pkg-config', '--cflags', '--libs', 'protobuf']
err: Package protobuf was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `protobuf.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'protobuf' found
I have tried changing the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable but it does not seem to work.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you for your attention.
