[ndnSIM] Virtual machine Ubuntu requirements for ndnSIM

I have installed virtual box on my macbook and installing ndSIM on virtual machine Ubuntu 16.04. However I have received the following error after almost 70% of the build:

virtual memory exhausted: Cannot allocate memory

Waf: Leaving directory `/home/mh/ndnSIM/ns-3/build'
Build failed
 
-> task in 'ns3module_lte' failed (exit status 1): 

Could anyone recommend the machine specs or memory requirements for ndSIM for my virtual machine Ubuntu 16.04? I intend to test the security and privacy aspects of ndnSIM and do simulations using AT&T topology etc.
