Hi Bharath, Junxiao,

in addition to the great NFN work, have a look at the following papers which address issues directly on ICN and edge computing:

- NFaaS: Named Function as a Service - ACM ICN 2017
- Manifest: Mobile Named Functions for Edge Computing - under submission
- RICE: Remote Method Invocation in ICN - ACM ICN 2018

This demo paper might also be of interest: https://conferences.sigcomm.org/acm-icn/2018/proceedings/icn18posterdemo-final4.pdf

NFaaS includes some nice hooks to resolve short-lived and mobile functions, so this might answer some of your questions. For all of the above there’s code available open source too.

Hi Bharath

Named Function Networking<https://github.com/cn-uofbasel/PiCN/blob/6545f9e88af6b069ec1d03ac2b0e524a034061d0/docs/nfn.md> should fulfill your use case.
The NFN forwarding engine would decide whether a computation request would be executed, which includes "newly added edge nodes".

Yours, Junxiao

Hi NDN team,

I just started reading about NDN recently. I am trying to use NDN in edge computing usecase. Is there anyone here working on edge usecases? My main query is how requests are routed dynamically to the newly added edge nodes.

Maybe I missed a trivial point here, looking for any pointers on further reading on this case.

Thanks in advance!

Best Regards
Bharath T
