[Mini-NDN] Get NFD Connected in Mini-ndn and Two Mini-ndn in two VM

Luofei,

Why can’t you run all the NDN nodes in one machine using mini-ndn? That’s the typical scenario. You can emulate different networks in one machine. That’s what mini-ndn is for.

Hi Lan and Alexander,

Thanks for the response and sorry for the late reply. I am kind of playing around with mini-ndn right now, and wondering can mini-ndn achieve p2p transmission of files across different network segment(across different LAN). I looked through the cluster edition of mini-ndn, and am still a little bit confused... The cluster edition mentions the way to connect mini-ndn of localhost and a server, are they in the same LAN or they are in the WAN? Also, does the current edition of cluster mini-ndn limit the number of servers connected?

Thanks a lot!

Best,
Luofei

There is a cluster edition that Ashlesh worked on that may be what Luofei needs but we will need to know the exact use case first.

The Mininet documentation has some details on connecting Mininet (and by extension Mini-NDN) to external networking devices but I do not believe what you're asking about has been done before. I'll second Dr. Wang's question.

Luofei,

Why do you want to get the mini-ndn nodes in two VMs connected?

Hi there,

I am new to mini-ndn, please forgive me and correct me if I have some stupid mistakes. When I looked though the link below: "Get NFD Connected" https://named-data.net/2015/01/06/get-nfd-connected/, I am wondering can we do the same in mini-ndn?

Also, if I have two machines, and both of them run Linux virtual machines in virtual boxes. And in these VMs, both of them run mini-ndn, is it possible to get nodes in these two mini-ndn connected use UDP face? Thanks in advance.

Best,
Luofei
