FIB is derived from information in the RIB, which usually contains more information than the FIB. For each prefix, the RIB can contain routes from multiple sources (e.g., manual configuration, applications, and protocols) and there may be rules on how to rank the routes from different sources. There may be flags in the RIB that affects how routes are inherited from parent prefixes to children prefixes. All of these are used to compute a FIB that contains prefixes and their corresponding next hops as well as the cost of each next hop.

Hi Amulya

Logically, RIB and FIB contain the same information, structured in different ways.
See NFD devguide "RIB" section for more information.
